On September 7, WAIC CONNECT MALAYSIA kicked off at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The first day centered on “Scenario Insight Day,” using city visits, Huawei Cloud AI Boost Day, and an all-day AI Showcase to extend attention from the venue to the front lines of industry. The event brought together government agencies, operators, industry customers, ecosystem partners, and Chinese AI companies expanding overseas, with the goal of connecting demand and capabilities face to face. Malaysia is accelerating its development as a regional technology and digital industry hub. Building on its accumulated strengths in semiconductors and electronics manufacturing, it is extending into advanced manufacturing, smart factories, and AI-enabled production systems, while data center and computing infrastructure are rising rapidly. The national AI roadmap is also advancing intelligent deployment in smart cities, healthcare, finance, and public services.

During the Huawei Cloud session, the company systematically explained its technology layout for the Agentic AI era: from cloud infrastructure to an Agent-Native enablement layer, supported by a model training and inference platform, data lake, MaaS, and an enterprise-grade intelligent platform. For the Malaysian market, Huawei Cloud announced the commercial availability of CodeArts, its code intelligence agent. Its Agent Team includes 16 expert agents covering the full R&D lifecycle—requirements, architecture, development, testing, issue fixing, and code review—and provides more than 30 R&D experience Skills.

The key to going global is translating Chinese experience into local value. On-site assessments suggested that Asia-Pacific intelligent economy-related growth is expected to reach $1.4 trillion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of about 15%. ASEAN’s younger demographic structure creates favorable conditions for adopting new technologies, and China’s validated business models and growth experience can be localized to meet local needs. However, product adaptation, scenario implementation, and long-term service are all indispensable. From “model invocation” to “agent collaboration,” the barrier for enterprise AI is shifting from whether a company has a model to whether it can organize R&D and business workflows.
